FAQs

How can I book?
We have several places that you can make a booking, The telephone numbers are on the website so please give us a call at anytime, But if you are in Penzance the main one is the Dockers Rest Cafe opposite the Dry Docks as this has the 'live' booking schedule which everything goes through. We can always be contacted by telephone and email.

Where does the boat leave from?
This is depending on the tide. We have 2 boarding sites. The main one is on the slipway right outside of the Booking Office and the 'Steps' on the Lighthouse Pier where the MV Scillonian sails from.

How can I pay?
Cash is preferable for a short booking, but we will take cheques if we have 5 working days for the cheques to clear. You can pay on the day of your trip but this needs to be done preferably well before your scheduled sailing time.

What is included in the price?
Rods, tackle, bait and most importantly tuition and experience.

Can I bring my own tackle?
Yes, of course you can. Although this might not be the correct set up for our type of fishing and conditions. Advice on this can be given prior to or during the trip.

What should I wear?
Suitable footwear and clothing for you to be comfortable. Please keep your eye on the local weather conditions as this is liable to change and please do not forget that it is generally cooler at sea.

Can I keep what I can catch?
Anything that you catch that is legal and edible, you are more than welcome to take home.

What should I bring with me?
This obviously dependant on the length of your trip, but anything you might wish to eat or drink on the trip and of course any medication, sunscreen and camera should you feel the need.

Where can I park?
There is a very large pay and display car park right opposite the Booking Office and as you drive to the departure point. A little further along is the promenade and there is parking although limited but free and unrestricted.

How many passangers does the Viking carry?
The Viking is licensed for a maximum of 12 passangers and 2 crew at any one time. If your party is much larger than this number then sometimes it is possible to arrange for 2 boats to work together.

For a full boat charter, unless you are regular with us, then a deposit and contact number is a must. This is required to comfirm and cement the booking. This is of course fully refundable should we have to cancel due to adverse weather. Also, with a contact number you can be advised of any changes for whatever reason as soon as possible.
For smaller trips, cruises or 2 hour mackerel trips then the full amount should be paid at the Booking office or a deposit must be left should you feel as you may be arriving close to your departure time.
